Newtown Boating Accident Victim Identified

One man was killed and two others injured in a crash on Lake Zoar.

SANDY HOOK, CT — A Sandy Hook man was pronounced dead after a boating accident on Lake Zoar, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Environmental Conservation Police. Randall Pineau, 52, was driving a pontoon boat when he was struck by a ski boat.

His wife Katherine Pineau suffered minor injuries. Another person was injured as a result of the crash. There were six people on the two boats.

The ENCON Boating Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash.
