(Newtown) -- The Chamber of Commerce of Newtown, Newtown Parks & Recreation and

NYA Sports & Fitness Center will host the 1st Annual Newtown Food Truck Festival fundraiser presented by Dental Associates of CT on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 11 AM to 5 PM at the Fairfield Hills Campus.

The Festival will feature over 20 food trucks, craft beer, live music, a tag sale hosted by The Rotary Club of Newtown, kid’s activities, sampling vendors and over 40 local vendors. Sponsors include Dental Associates of CT, Colonial Subaru, Colonial Mazda of Danbury and Colonial Ford of Danbury, Fraser Woods Montessori School, RE/MAX Right Choice, Vroom Service Now, Caraluzzi’s, Curtis Packaging, Conaway Design, Union Savings Bank, and Brautigam Land Surveyors, Minuteman Press of Newtown and Associated Refuse Haulers. Media sponsors include The News Times, CT Post, KidsOutandAbout.com-Fairfield County, The Newtown Bee and CT Kids & Family, Fairfield HamletHub and Star 99.9.

“We are bringing food trucks to Newtown in a big way! This will be the day to enjoy Fairfield Hills, eat, drink, dance and shop with your family and friends. Food trucks bring lots of out-of-towners, and our town will be on display and open for business. It is a day to have fun and let Newtown shine!” said Helen Brickfield, Business Development Director of the Chamber of Commerce of Newtown.

Food trucks include Bradley Taffy, Chef Bill’s Peppermill Grill, Chompers, Christiano’s Pizza & Fried Dough Truck, Dad’s Food Truck, Dad’s Popcorn Truck, Dee’s Flavors, Donut Crazy, DrewbaQ Food Truck, The Empanada Sonata, Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes, Kathy’s Catering, Keep ‘em Rollin,’ Pierogies on Wheels, Pork Friends and Company, Poutine Gourmet, Rice and Beans, S’all Good, Sonny’s Grinders, Sultan Kebab, Ted’s Restaurant, Weenie Lynn’s and The Whey Station. Other food vendors include Ferris Acres Creamery, Fire & Rice, Bee’s Knees Ice Pops and Lucy’s Potato Pancakes.

The event will have live music featuring local artists. First on the lineup is Dramatic Turn, playing your favorite classic rock tunes from 11 am to 1 pm. Harrison Street, a 5-piece modern rock, blues, country Americana act, will play from 1 pm to 3 pm. Zuzu’s Petals will play from 3 pm to 5pm, as a five-piece classic rock/pop band with strong lead vocals provided by singer Fran and amazing keyboard player Mark. They cover everything from Blue Oyster Cult to Joan Jett and everything in between.

There will be many family activities, including 3 inflatables, caricature drawings and martial arts. Disney princesses will be face painting and interacting with the kids. There will be over 40 local vendors, including food sampling, beauty and skin care, jewelry, pet accessories, adoptable kittens, therapy dogs, LuLaRoe and more!

This event’s purpose is to create fun for families in surrounding communities and demonstrate a love for food by bringing everyone together. Proceeds from the event will support local causes including health and community advancement. This fundraiser will be the first of its kind in the immediate area, bringing the exciting aspect of food truck festivals into the Newtown community and its surrounding areas.
