Newtown Grad's TV Pilot to be Screened at Hoboken Film Festival

The film festival is regarded as one of the biggest in the world.

NEWTOWN, CT — A 2012 Newtown High School graduate is set to have her work screened at the annual Hoboken International Film Festival, according to a news release. Riley Wurtz's comedic pilot "Shady Pines" was one of over 1,500 submissions to the festival and only 10 percent of submissions were selected.

Wurtz is a 2016 graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She was a part of Newtown's state championship basketball and volleyball teams in 2012 and went on to play basketball at NYU where she later became captain.

Shady Pines won the student pilot competition for an original script at the Tisch School.
