Newtown Man Violates Protective Order, Mailboxes Vandalized

The following arrest information was supplied by the Newtown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Joseph Scarpelli, 21, of Newtown, was charged with violation of a protective order and first-degree criminal trespass on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at approximately 1:16 a.m.

According to police, Scarpelli’s vehicle was seen parked in the driveway of a home that a valid protective order banned him from being at. After a brief investigation Scarpelli was found inside the vehicle. The address of the incident was not released based on the age of the protected person.

Scarpelli was released on $500 surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Oct. 17.

Newtown Police are investigating the vandalism of several mailboxes on Lone Oak Meadows Rd. The vandalism occurred in the overnight hours of Saturday, Oct. 13.
