Newtown Oil Owner Sentenced for Probation Violation
He was already serving a 16-year federal prison sentence.

DANBURY, CT — Already serving a 16-year federal prison sentence, the former owner of Newtown Oil was handed an additional five years in prison Wednesday for violating his probation, reports the News Times. In an unrelated state case, William Trudeau's five-year sentence will be served concurrently with the 16-year federal sentence, judge Kevin Russo ruled.
In 2008, Trudeau was sentenced to 25 years of prison and five years probation for allegedly defrauding mostly elderly customers of Newtown Oil by taking money for heating contracts but not providing the fuel.
The judge in the state case suspended Trudeau's 25-year sentence so that he could make over $262,000 in restitution to victims.
