Newtown Parent Connection Secures Lease of Fairfield Hills Building for $10: Report

Pat Llodra confirmed that the nonprofit has secured an lease agreement for $1 a year for 10 years.

NEWTOWN, CT — A nonprofit substance abuse program has secured a deal to lease a building at Fairfield Hills for $1 a year for 10 years, according to The News Times. The Newtown Parent Connection will soon move into the Canaan House, a duplex at Fairfield Hills.

The mission of the Newtown Parent Connection is to "educate and empower our community in the prevention of substance abuse and to embrace families in crisis. Our goal is to continue to work in conjunction with town agencies, the police department, the schools, and religious communities to enlighten our community in order to prevent the use of drugs and alcohol among our youth," Dorrie Carolan wrote on their website.

Kyle Lyddy, Chairman of the Sandy Hook Permanent Memorial Commission said of Carolan, "She's resilient. She's strong. She's determined. And has made a difference to thousands of individuals and families over the course of her lifetime. She has dedicated her life to this work. Fighting the epidemic of drugs in our neighborhoods. In our homes. It's an issue our society is seeing grow... when it needs to be slowed. Today is a milestone that will allow that work to continue. With the opening of a brand new, restored facility Newtown Parent Connection will be able to assist those who may need it most.
