NEWTOWN, CT — A domestic disturbance and multiple collisions and a disorderly conduct charge were at the top of the Newtown Police Department's blotter the last week.
Minor Collision Reported in Sandy Hook Parking Lot
A minor vehicle collision occurred in a private parking lot on Farrell Court in Sandy Hook on the morning of April 25, according to Newtown police.

The incident took place around 8:49 a.m. when two vehicles, a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2021 Volvo XC60, were backing out of parking spaces opposite each other. The left rear of the Jeep, driven by Jessie Kianka of Farrell Court, struck the left rear quarter panel of the Volvo, operated by Roseann Straub, also of Farrell Court.
Police said both vehicles sustained minor damage as a result of the impact. Neither driver reported injuries, and airbags were not deployed in either vehicle. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.

Because the crash occurred on private property and involved minimal damage, no enforcement action was taken by officers on the scene. The vehicles were not towed, and no transportation to a medical facility was required.
Man Faces DUI and Vehicle Violations Following Main Street Incident
A 42-year-old Danbury man is facing multiple motor vehicle charges, including driving under the influence, following an incident on Main Street on April 25.
Officers from the Newtown Police Department responded around 7:41 p.m. to a report of an intoxicated man stumbling in the roadway near 45 Main Street. Upon arrival, police located and identified him as David Martin of Hickory Street in Danbury.
Following an on-scene investigation, officers determined that Martin was operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Martin was transported to the Newtown Police Department, where he was processed and issued multiple charges, including driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license due to alcohol, driving without minimum insurance, misuse of registration plates, and operating an unregistered vehicle.
He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on May 6.
Driver Error Causes Property Damage at Newtown Residence
A delivery vehicle struck a residential garage door in Newtown on April 27 after the driver failed to put the vehicle in park while attempting to deliver a package.
According to a report from the Newtown Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. at a residence on Newfield Lane. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Daevon Kyjuan Littlejohn of Bridgeport, was operating a 2023 Ford Transit 250 owned by PV Holding Corp. of Virginia Beach, VA.
Littlejohn had entered the driveway at 2 Newfield Lane to deliver a package when the vehicle, left unsecured, rolled forward and hit the property's garage door. The collision caused a dent, but no structural damage was reported beyond that.
No injuries were reported, and the vehicle did not require towing. The accident occurred on private property, and police did not issue any enforcement action.
Two-Vehicle Crash Reported in Newtown; No Injuries
A two-vehicle crash occurred on Hawleyville Road on April 27 when a southbound driver crossed the centerline and collided with a northbound vehicle, according to police.
The incident, which took place just north of Currituck Road around 11:36 a.m., involved a 2007 Audi A4 operated by Matthew Kear, 25, of Brookfield, and a 2020 Jeep Wrangler driven by Ryan Given, 46, also of Brookfield. No injuries were reported, and both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
Police said Kear’s Audi crossed over the double yellow line while navigating a curve and struck Given’s Jeep. Neither vehicle required towing.
Kear received a written warning for failure to drive right on a curve.
Driver Mistakenly Accelerates into Parking Barriers in Newtown
A driver mistakenly accelerated into multiple concrete barriers in a grocery store parking lot on Queen Street, causing significant damage to both the vehicle and store property, according to Newtown police.
The incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on April 24, 2025, in the lot of Caraluzzi’s Market. Police said the driver had just picked up groceries at a designated curbside pickup spot when the vehicle was accidentally shifted into drive instead of reverse. The car then moved forward, crossing over a parking barrier, knocking over a sign for the pickup area, and hitting a second concrete barrier in the adjacent space.
The Honda CR-V sustained disabling damage to its undercarriage, along with minor damage to both the front and rear bumpers. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
The driver and passenger, both residents of Monroe, were uninjured and declined medical evaluation. Police did not issue any enforcement action, noting that the incident occurred on private property.
No other vehicles were involved, and no bystanders were injured. Damage to store property included a dislodged parking barrier and a damaged curbside pickup sign.
Newtown Police Respond to Protective Order Violation
Police responded to a residence on Turkey Hill Terrace on April 28 following a complaint involving harassment and threatening behavior.
According to the Newtown Police Department, the investigation led to a criminal complaint identifying 46-year-old Lynsey Lotty of Shelton as the person involved. Authorities said Lotty was found to be in violation of a protective order and was also cited for second-degree harassment.
The incident did not result in any reported injuries, and no ambulance or hospital transport was necessary.
Lotty was issued a summons to appear in Danbury Superior Court on April 29 and was released on a promise to appear.
The Newtown Police Department confirmed that the case is not under further investigation.
No Injuries Reported in Minor Driveway Collision in Newtown
A minor two-vehicle collision occurred on April 27 in a private driveway on Hyvue Drive, according to Newtown police.
The incident took place around 5:18 p.m. when a 2005 Ford F-150 driven by Daniel Rafael of Newtown backed into a parked 2020 Ram Promaster van owned by Amazon Logistics. At the time of the collision, the operator of the van, Lewellyne Cyreech Jones of New Haven, was inside the cargo area retrieving a package.
Rafael told officers he did not see the delivery van parked in the driveway. No injuries were reported by either party, and both vehicles sustained minor damage.
Police did not take enforcement action, citing that the crash occurred on private property. The case was marked closed.
Minor Collision Reported at Berkshire Road Intersection in Newtown
A minor motor vehicle crash occurred Monday morning at the intersection of Pole Bridge Road and Berkshire Road in Newtown, according to a police summary.
At approximately 8:29 a.m. on April 28, a 2013 Ram 1500 driven by Troy Emmi of Sandy Hook struck the rear of a 2020 Kia Soul operated by Melissa Geser, also of Sandy Hook. The incident took place as Geser had stopped at a stop sign and Emmi, traveling behind, failed to maintain a safe following distance.
No injuries were reported by either driver or by a passenger in the Ram, identified as Kayla Emmi. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and did not require towing. Police issued Emmi a verbal warning for following too closely.
Newtown Police Respond to Dispute on Platts Hill Road
Officers from the Newtown Police Department responded to a reported dispute at a residence on Platts Hill Road on the afternoon of April 28.
According to police, the incident occurred around 3:24 p.m. at 48 Platts Hill Road. Following an on-scene investigation, Enrique Rivera, 51, was issued a summons for disorderly conduct.
Rivera was processed at the Newtown Police Department and released on a written promise to appear at Danbury Superior Court on April 29.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Minor Collision Reported in Newtown Middle School Parking Lot
A minor collision involving two vehicles occurred in the parking lot of Newtown Middle School on April 22, according to a report from the Newtown Police Department.
The incident took place at approximately 5:38 p.m. at 11 Queen St. Police said a 2014 Ford Explorer, driven by James Kieran Filan of Newtown, was parked next to a 2021 Porsche Boxster, owned by Jakub J. Pusz, also of Newtown. As Filan attempted to exit his parking space, he reportedly turned too sharply, causing the right rear door of his vehicle to strike the left front fender of the parked Porsche.
Both vehicles sustained minor damage, including dents, scuffs, and scratches. Neither vehicle required towing, and no injuries were reported. Because the incident occurred on private property, police said no enforcement action was taken.
Newtown Man Faces Charges Following Domestic Disturbance
A Newtown man is facing multiple charges following a domestic disturbance that took place on the morning of April 23 on Hundred Acres Road.
Officers from the Newtown Police Department were dispatched to the scene around 9:20 a.m. after receiving a report of a dispute. Upon investigating, police identified 58-year-old Anthony A. Ehrens as the suspect involved in the incident.
Ehrens was charged with first-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful restraint, third-degree assault, and disorderly conduct. According to police, the incident did not require medical attention or ambulance response.
He was processed at Newtown Police Headquarters and later released on a $50,000 bond. Ehrens was scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on April 24.
The case remains under investigation.
Rear-End Collision Reported on South Main Street in Newtown
A two-vehicle collision occurred on South Main Street in Newtown on April 22, but no injuries were reported, according to a summary from the Newtown Police Department.
The incident took place at approximately 6:51 p.m. at the intersection of South Main Street and Elm Drive. A 2018 Chevrolet Colorado, operated by Kevin Cleary of Sandy Hook, was traveling northbound behind a 1999 Chevrolet S10 driven by Forest Gajdosik of Oxford. According to the police report, Gajdosik’s Chevy had stopped when it was struck from behind by Cleary’s truck.
Both vehicles sustained damage but did not require towing. Diagrams in the police report indicated that the Chevrolet Colorado had front-end damage while the S10 was impacted at the rear.
Cleary received a verbal warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. No medical transport was necessary, and the scene was cleared without further issue.
