All Newtown public schools will be closed today, Friday, March 8, due to inclement weather -- mostly a mixture of snow and rain.

The National Weather Service forecast for Newtown:
- Friday (Day): Snow before 4pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers. High near 38. Breezy, with a north wind 11 to 16 mph increasing to 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
- Friday (Night): Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 25. North wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
