Attorney Josh Koskoff represents a group of parents who lost children in the Sandy Hook School massacre who are suing the gun manufacturer.

NEWTOWN, CT — By Janet L. Serra (Star Patcher): The American Museum of Tort Law is proud to welcome Connecticut Senator Christopher Murphy and Attorney Josh Koskoff for an evening presentation on guns, the 2nd amendment and the public health and safety issues posed by easy accessibility to high-powered, rapid-fire assault rifles. The presentation will take place on Friday, August 19 at 7:30 p.m., the doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the cost is $20. Reservations are suggested by calling 860-379-0505.

Senator Murphy was a primetime speaker on ‘Ending Gun Violence’ at the2016 Democratic National Convention. His impassioned ‘We Have Had Enough’ speech, on the heels of leading a 15-hour filibuster on the floor of the U.S. Senate, catapulted the Senator into national prominence as an advocate for bi-partisan, common sense gun legislation.

Attorney Josh Koskoff represents a group of parents who lost children in the December 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. They are suing Remington Arms Company, the maker of the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle used in the assault, for acting and continuing to act negligently in their production, marketing and sale of the firearm.

This presentation is part of a series of talks the Museumhosts on the most compelling topics impacting the health, safety and civil rights of individuals. Shooting an unarmed person is not merely a crime; it is also a tort – the infliction of a wrongful injury. So, tort law can serve as a means to address this problem – not merely by compensating those people who have been attacked, but by deterring such violence in the future.
