Sandy Hook Families Angered By Megyn Kelly Interview With Alex Jones
NBC and host Megyn Kelly face criticism after interviewing the far-right radio host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones Sunday night.

SANDY HOOK, CT — Parents of children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre are among those calling for a boycott of NBC and "Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly" because the network plans to broadcast an interview on Father's Day with Alex Jones, a right-wing extremist who has claimed the killings were faked. Critics of the interview claim the network is using the pain of Sandy Hook victims to gain ratings. They condemned NBC for giving Jones, the founder of Infowars, a voice.
Nelba Marquez-Greene, the mother of Ana Grace Marquez-Greene, who was killed on Dec. 14, 2012, took to social media to oppose the interview. The full interview will be aired on June 18, but you can view a preview of the interview on the NBC News website.
Here you go @megynkelly - her name is Ana Grace Márquez-Greene. Say her name- stare at this & tell me it's worth it. @nbc #SandyHook pic.twitter.com/mKrU63KWmA

The Texas-based radio host Jones also called for the interview to be pulled, stating he was "tired of being represented." Jones seemed to roll back comments he made in 2013, according to mediamatters.org.

"Sandy Hook," Jones said."It's got inside job written all over it."
Jones also claimed in 2014 that CNN's Anderson Cooper was standing in front of a blue screen, and that actors were "fake crying" on camera.

"I've looked at it and undoubtedly there's a cover up, there's actors, they are manipulating, they've been caught lying, and they are pre-planning before it and rolled out with it," said Jones in March of 2014.
He also issued a "Final Statement on Sandy Hook," in which he said the official story of the events of on Dec. 14 has "more holes than Swiss cheese" and that officials are "so scared of any investigation."

The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting resulted in the death of 20 students and six educators in Newtown, Connecticut, on Dec. 14, 2012. The shooting was the deadliest mass shooting at a high school or grade school in U.S. history.
The Texas-based radio host has been linked to President Donald Trump since he appeared on his radio show for a lengthy interview during the Republican primaries, reports the New York Times. Jones later said the president called him and thanked him for his support after he won the November election.
Jones' comments and his relationship to Trump have angered many in the community, including Mark Barden, whose 7-year-old son Daniel was killed on Dec. 14. Barden spoke out about the relationship between Trump and Jones, telling The Daily Mail's Marlow Stern during the election that the then-Republican presidential nominee of the United States was being advised by "a delusional sociopath. It's disgusting."
Hundreds took to social media during and after the interview to criticize the network, using the hashtags #ShameOnNBC and #ShameOnMegynKelly and calling for a boycott of the network. In a tweet Sunday, Kelly stated that Trump's relationship with Jones was among her motives for having him on the show, including that Trump gave Infowars a White House press credential.
POTUS's been on & praises @RealAlexJones' show. He's giving Infowars a WH press credential. Many don't know him; our job is 2 shine a light. https://t.co/5e88BJyqnz

However, many on social media say that Jones' views have given others a license to harass the victims of gun violence. A woman in Florida pleaded guilty last week to sending death threats to a parent who lost a child on Dec. 14. Matthew Mills, a conspiracy theorist with a history of arrests, was arrested by Stratford Police in 2015 at a third annual race, which is held to raise money for the Vicki Soto Memorial Fund.
In a Facebook post Sunday, the Vicki Soto memorial fund expressed its disappointment in the interview, stating that Jones and his followers "have done nothing but make our lives a living hell for the last 4 1/2 years."
Cristina Hassinger, the daughter of Sandy Hook principal Dawn Hochsprung, who was killed while attempting to save students during the massacre, also reacted to the interview via Twitter.
This piece of actual garbage encourages people to call my mom's death a hoax and harass other Sandy Hook families. Shame on you @megynkelly. https://t.co/uGmhqQAEeR

On Feb. 20, the Newtown Board of Education wrote a letter asking Trump to denounce those who believe the shooting was a hoax, specifically targeting Jones.
"We are asking you to intervene to try to stop [Alex] Jones and other hoaxers like him," the board of education wrote in the Feb. 20 letter, according to the Hartford Courant. "We are asking you to acknowledge the tragedy from 12/14/12 and to denounce anyone spreading lies and conspiracy theories about the tragedy on that December morning."
However, Marquez Greene took to social media to discuss what she referred to as weekly harassment from "truthers."
Because this is what it looks like when you shine light on #AlexJones - they don't go away. They double down @megynkelly . #SandyHook pic.twitter.com/GjeBVpC6HR
