How did you come up with the name?

In 1996 the original name was “Hair ‘n the Hook.” We had this name for 5 years, outgrew it and wanted a change. We held a contest in the newspaper where the community submitted their name suggestions. The name and logo were then created and it has continued for another 14 years strong.

Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?

Briefly, what business are you in?

Hairstyling, haircuts for men and women.

What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

As a mom, stylist, owner, manager and marketing person, there have been plenty of tough time-clients you love move, clients who become part of your family pass away, stylists who are with your team for so long change careers and you miss their energy from day to day. I’m so very proud of our longevity as a salon, as a team, and the relationships we have created.

What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?

I’m very proud of our branded hair styling products. Our “Take Control “ hairspray is our number one product sale. We touch people. They look better on the outside, but also leave feeling better on the inside. What better career is there?!

Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?

Never once have I questioned my decision to be owner and stylist .. I love what I do , every day . Some days may require more of me , but I’d still at the end of the day have to admit” I’ve got the best job in the world”.

How do you deal with difficult customers?

We are fortunate to have truly fantastic customers. If there a few are that are more difficult, it only makes the other 99 percent seem even more fantastic so I guess we need both. It keeps you on your toes.

How does your business give back or get involved in the community?

Donations may be in small amounts , but we support on a grand scale. We are a community oriented salon. We are supported and in turn support. We are the go-to place for field hockey, girls softball, VFW, womens’ auxiliary, and the list goes on.
