NEWTOWN, CT — Local officials and community members renewed their call for gun control laws this weekend after 26 cyclists completed a 400-mile ride from Washington D.C. to Newtown, reports the News Times. The rain-soaked ride was the fifth the team has made since 2013, but decided to ride away from the capitol due to Congress' decision not to pass gun control legislation.

100 community members greeted the team as made the ride back to Newtown Sunday night at Edmond Town Hall, including First Selectman Pat Llodra, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Etsy and teachers and parents directly tied to the tragedy.
