Car Crashes Into Newtown Restaurant, 1 Person Extricated By Firefighters
Newtown firefighters rescued a person trapped after a vehicle crashed into a building Tuesday morning.
NEWTOWN, CT — Firefighters responded Tuesday morning after a vehicle struck a building in Newtown, leaving one person trapped inside the car.
Newtown Hook & Ladder said on social media, crews responded shortly after 9:30 a.m. to the single-car crash at the Ricky's Plaza Shopping Center.
Upon arrival, responders said one person was trapped in the car, which had crashed through the front window of Mexicali Rose Restaurant. Botsford Fire Rescue was called to assist under standard protocol.

Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and extricated the patient, who was transferred to Newtown Ambulance for transport. No further details on the patient’s condition were immediately available.
In a social media post, the restaurant said, Mexicali Rose, "Hi Mexicali fam, we will be closed until further notice, so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause!"
