Here are five outstanding nonprofit groups you should know about in the North Branford area:

1. The North Branford Land Conservation Trust is dedicated to being an active organization preserving the rural character of North Branford that protects and maintains the land they own and works with the town, businesses and residents to actively work to acquire and preserve distinctive unprotected open space in town.

2. The North Branford Rotary Club seeks to tap into the unique and immensely valuable skillsets of those in the community and beyond to craft projects that provide an incredible impact in town, as well as Connecticut and beyond.

3. The Totoket Historical Society will be recognized as the premier resource for historical education and the preservation of artifacts pertaining to the heritage of North Branford and Northford.

4. The Food Pantry of North Branford's mission is to provide free supplemental groceries to those in need, with 100 percent of all food and monetary donations used for its clients. The organization is a member of the Connecticut Food Bank and receives free or low cost food from it.

5. North Branford Congregational Church collects non perishable food every first Sunday of the month to support a local food bank. The church also collects clothes in the clothing donation shed located in its parking lot.
