8 North Branford Roadways Will Be Crack-Sealed In Early September, Here's What You Need To Know

The work is tentatively ​scheduled to begin Sept. 9, and it's expected to continue the rest of that week, weather permitting.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — Come September, the North Branford Public Works Department will implement crack seal a number of roadways.

Town Manager Michael Downes posted to Facebook that the work is tentatively scheduled to begin Sept. 9. It's expected to continue the rest of that week, weather permitting.

According to the National Center for Asphalt Technology at Auburn University, crack sealing is a pavement maintenance technique. Cracks in asphalt or concrete roads are filled with a sealant to prevent water and other materials from penetrating and causing further damage.

The process, which involves cleaning the cracks, applying a sealant, and allowing it to cure, helps to "extend the life of the pavement and prevent more costly repairs."
