Council Designates May 10 As Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Awareness Day
The Town Council supports the national effort to promote awareness of CdLS, a little-known genetic disorder.
NORTH BRANFORD, CT — The North Branford Town Council was joined on Tuesday by North Branford’s Ashley Fernandez, regional coordinator for the CdLS Foundation, her husband Michael, daughter Lilly, and her daughter Lindsey who was diagnosed with CdLS at the age of 18 months, to promote awareness about CdLS.
Mayor Rose Angeloni and the North Branford Town Council issued a proclamation declaring May 10th as International Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Awareness Day in North Branford.
Cornelia de Lange Syndrome is a little-known genetic disorder causing children to be born with a low birth weight, develop slowly cognitively and physically, and experience numerous medical complications. An estimated 30,000 men, women and children in the U.S. have CdLS and are undiagnosed or are without support services.
