ID Of Person Killed In North Branford Crash Released By Police
"We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies" to everyone who knew the deceased, police officials said Friday.
NORTH BRANFORD, CT — The North Branford Police Department announced that Roger Munck, 85, of Northford, was killed in a Friday morning crash.
"We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the Munck family, their loved ones, and all who knew Mr. Munck," said Police Chief James Lovelace.
"This incident remains under active investigation in coordination with the South Central Regional Accident Reconstruction Unit. These investigations are thorough, complex, and ongoing," Lovelace said. "We appreciate the members of the public who have already come forward with valuable information, and we encourage anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact our department. We are sincerely grateful to our first responders for their swift and professional response, and we thank the community for its continued support during this difficult time."

One person was killed, and another injured, Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in the 900 block of Foxon Road in North Branford, police announced earlier on Friday.
The crash occurred at about 10 a.m., and resulted in the temporary closure of Foxon Road/Route 80 between Twin Lakes and Cedar Lake roads.

"One of the operators sustained severe injuries," Lovelace said in a statement. "Life-saving measures were immediately initiated by North Branford Fire Department personnel, and the individual was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital. Unfortunately, the operator succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital."
The second operator was also transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with what appear to be minor injuries, according to Lovelace.
Foxon Road will remain closed for an extended period on Friday while the scene is processed, according to Lovelace, who added that the department "is grateful for the swift response and cooperation of our first responders, the Department of Public Works, the Connecticut Department of Transportation, and all personnel who assisted at the scene."
