Flags In North Branford Ordered To Half-Staff In Honor Of Stephen Kopylec
Kopylec was a staffer for 20 years and a NBFD member for 45 years. He passed away Monday night, Town Manager Michael Downes said.
NORTH BRANFORD, CT — "It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Stephen Kopylec, a member of our Public Works Team for over 20 years, and a 45-year member of the North Branford Fire Department, passed away last evening," Town Manager Michael Downes said.
In accordance with the town's flag policy, North Branford Mayor Rose Angeloni has ordered that U.S. flags at all Town of North Branford municipal buildings, schools, and facilities be lowered to half-staff in honor of him, Downes said.
"Individuals, businesses, and other private entities within North Branford are encouraged to do the same," Downes said.

Downes said that flags should be lowered at all stations effective immediately, until interment on a date yet to be announced. As to flag protocol, since no flag shall fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags, including the state and town flag should also be lowered.
