Fraud Investigation Leads to Arrest, Extradition From PA: North Branford Police

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — Back in early June of this year, a resident reported a fraud scheme involving a "scholarship account established to assist graduating" North Branford high school seniors, police said.
Police said in a news release that an investigation was conducted by the North Branford Detective Bureau, led by Detective Craig Miller. It was learned through that probe that "the suspect responsible for the fraudulent charges, totaling more than $4,300, was residing in Pennsylvania," police noted.
An extraditable arrest warrant was obtained by investigators for Giovanny Jimenez, 31, of Beaver Meadows, PA, police said.

"With the assistance of our partners at the Pennsylvania State Police, Jimenez was taken into custody on Oct. 21, 2025, and extradited back to Connecticut on Nov. 5," authorities said.
Jimenez is being held on a $25,000 court-set bond and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday on charges of third-degree larceny and third-degree identity theft, police said.

"Political and geographical boundaries will not impede this department’s efforts to locate, extradite, and arrest suspects who commit crimes against the residents of North Branford," the NBPD news release reads.
The department extended its "gratitude to the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office, the Pennsylvania State Police, and to the detectives and officers whose professionalism and diligence led to a successful outcome in this case."
Police added, "All arrests are subject to judicial review and determination in a court of law. The information presented is based on probable cause and does not constitute a conviction."
