NORTH BRANFORD, CT — Hours before sunrise, public works employees hit the roads to treat, and make safe, roadways, parking lots and sidewalks across town.

And they did so in the department's "red fleet" of trucks, whose ages range from 1988 to 2025.

"Time to beat the freeze: Roads are wet and temperatures are dropping," the department posted to Facebook around 3 a.m.

"A special thank you to our Department of Public Works for helping make this fun event happen and for all their hard work keeping our streets safe this winter season," added Libraries Facebook post.

Public Works reciprocated.

"Thank you to the North Branford Public Libraries this year for having our local children stamp their hand prints into a few of our plows," Public Works said.
