James Lovelace Named North Branford Deputy Police Chief
Deputy Chief James Lovelace is a 14.5 year veteran of the department. He served as a patrol officer, and sergeant.
NORTH BRANFORD, CT - The North Branford Board of Police Commissioners, Chief Kevin Halloran and members of this department are proud to announce the recent promotion of James Lovelace to Deputy Chief.
Deputy Chief James Lovelace is a 14.5 year veteran of the department. He served as a patrol officer, and sergeant. He rose to the rank of lieutenant in 2016 serving as the patrol commander and many other administrative responsibilities. He was named acting police chief while the board of police commissioners were recently in search of a new police chief.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. He is currently attending the Police Executive Research’s Senior Management Institute for Police, one of the most advanced police executive leadership / management training programs in the U.S.

Deputy Chief Lovelace is a member of the South Central Regional Traffic Unit as an assistant team leader and former member of the South Central Regional Tactical Team.
Lovelace has received many awards for his service in law enforcement. In his many positions within this department he has proven to be a strong leader and has risen to the challenges that were put in front of him. We wish Deputy Chief Lovelace the best of luck in his new role.
