Joan Hallet obituary: Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven

Joan A. (O’Keefe) Hallet of East Haven, passed away at home surrounded by her family on August 2, 2025. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Hallet, with whom she shared 29 years of marriage. Born in New Haven on May 8, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John Sr. and Ann (Gojuk) O’Keefe. Joan is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Coderre of Northford (Raymond Coderre of Fall River, MA), Darlene Tetreault (Steven) of Fall River, MA and step-daughter, Lisa Brown of Derby CT along with two granddaughters she adored, Sophie Rose Coderre and Sarah Louise Brown. Joan is also survived by her three siblings; John O’Keefe, Jr. (Rose) of North Haven, Mary O’Keefe Reagan (Todd) of Florida and Patricia Nuzzo (widow of Michael Nuzzo) of East Haven and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan is preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Mirissa Ann Medeiros.


Joan was dedicated to her work and retired from Yale New Haven's Department of Radiology. Joan’s passions included reading, solving puzzles and knitting. Her love and dedication to family was evident in her deep bonds with her living relatives.

Family will receive friends on Thursday August 7, 2025 from 9 AM until 10:30 AM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven CT. Her funeral procession will then leave the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of Our Lady of Pompeii, 355 Foxon Rd. (Route 80), East Haven with Burial/Committal to follow at All saints Cemetery in North Haven.


The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the Vitas/Hospice team which assisted so compassionately with the care of Joan in her final days, especially Kristin Giuliano, Orlando Rivera Sylvia Cicarelli of The Landing . In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter.
