In Memoriam: Richard H. Bowerman

The North Branford resident passed away Oct. 30 at the age of 98.

Richard H. Bowerman, 98, of 88 Notch Hill Road, North Branford, CT, died peacefully Friday, October 30, 2015.

He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Frances Whitney Bowerman.

Mr. Bowerman was born in Newark, NJ on April 29, 1917, the son of Arthur L. and Constance R. Bowerman, formerly of West Haven.

He is survived by his daughter Judith B. Condon and her husband Jeffrey of Douglas, MA, a son Richard W. Bowerman and his wife Elizabeth Acee of Branford, CT, and his daughter Frances B. Gingrich and her beau Vincent DiLauro, also of Branford. Mr. Bowerman is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Elizabeth Glennon and her husband John of Elkridge, MD, Richard W. Wallace of Wells, ME, Julie C. Childers and her husband James Patrick of Springfield, VA, Jennifer Knowles and her husband Dan of Longmont, CO, Ryan Condon of Largo, FL, James P. Bowerman of Savannah, GA, Benjamin W. Bowerman of Atlanta, GA, Max and Zoe Bowerman of Branford, CT, Jane C. Mugrage and her husband Sean of North Potomac, MD, Emily W. Gingrich and her husband T.J. DeVivio of Brooklyn, NY, and Jack Gingrich of Redmond, WA.; six great-grandchildren: Matthew, Jacob, and Caroline Von Neida of Elkridge, MD, James and Charles Childers of Springfield, VA, and Olivia Mugrage of North Potomac, MD.

Mr. Bowerman practiced law in New Haven with Tyler, Cooper, Grant, Bowerman, and Keefe prior to becoming Chairman of the Board, President, and CEO of Connecticut Energy Corporation and its subsidiary, Southern Connecticut Gas Company.

Funeral arrangements are handled by W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, where friends may call Monday, November 2 from 4-7 P. M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 3 10 AM at St. Therese Church, 195 Leetes Island Rd., Branford, followed by private interment at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
