New Haven Man Charged With Animal Cruelty By North Branford Cops: PD

The 48-year-old man was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant issued by North Branford police charging him with animal cruelty.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — A 48-year-old New Haven man was charged by North Branford police with animal cruelty.

Monday, Eladio Cervantes, 48, was taken into custody by the New Haven Police Department on an outstanding warrant issued by the North Branford police, authorities said on Facebook.

Cervantes was charged with Cruelty to Animals following a lengthy and thorough investigation, North Branford police wrote.

"We remain steadfast in our commitment to investigate all reports of animal abuse," police wrote. "Cervantes’ actions are reprehensible, and we will pursue this case to the fullest extent of the law."

They did not elaborate on the specific case.

Cervantes was held overnight on a $10,000 bond and was arraigned Tuesday in New Haven Superior Court, police said.

"We extend our sincere thanks to the New Haven Police Department, the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office, and the dedicated officers of the North Branford Police Department for their efforts in bringing this individual to justice," North Branford police posted to social media.
