North Branford Cooling Stations Open In Advance Of 'Extreme,' Oppressive Heat Conditions: Town

The state activated its Extreme Hot Weather Protocol with oppressive temperatures, high humidity, expected now through Wednesday.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — The heat is on. Again.

As the state activated its "extreme hot weather protocol," due to anticipated "oppressive temperatures and humidity," now through Wednesday, the town said to 'ensure vulnerable residents have protection available," it opened cooling stations for residents in need beginning at noon Monday through Wednesday.

  • North Branford Town Hall, 909 Foxon Road, North Branford , from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
  • Atwater Memorial Library, 1720 Foxon Road, North Branford, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. now through Wednesday.

Note that the main entrance at the library location will remain open until 8 p.m. Those needing cooling shelter will be able to access the main entrance, community room, and bathroom at any point during the day.

The Town Hall will be open for shelter only between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

Residents can also dial 2-1-1 or visit 211ct.org to find additional sheltering locations near them.
