Frances Fabrizi Sgueglia, 81, of North Branford passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late John Sgueglia for over 50 years. Frances was born in New Haven in 1944 and was the daughter of the late Michael and Domenica (DiGiovanni) Fabrizi. She grew up on Wooster St and was a graduate of Wilbur Cross High School in 1962. She worked in the North Branford High School for 33 years until her retirement in 2009. Frances was the loving mother of Cynthia and John (Cynthia Nieslen). She is also survived by her sisters Mary, Barbara (Chuck) and Patricia (Danny) and several nieces and nephews. She was an amazing Italian cook and took joy in sharing that with her family and friends. Frances had a passion for reading and her favorite stories were mysteries. Frances and John loved to travel and in her later years enjoyed local adventures around the northeast with her children.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80), East Haven Tuesday morning, Oct. 7, at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Ambrose Parish at St. Augustine Church, 30 Caputo Rd., North Branford at 10:00.
