Obituary: James Howard Knoob, 78, formerly of Northford

James, a proud U.S. Army veteran and dedicated family man, worked as a sales representative for Entenmann's Bakery in Orange for many years.

NORTHFORD, CT - (From Washington Memorial Funeral Home) James Howard Knoob, 78, of Meriden died suddenly at his home on Saturday, February 19, 2022. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Mary Lou Marino Knoob.

James was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 20, 1943, a son of the late George and Doris Price Knoob.

He grew up in Brooklyn and moved to Mt. Vernon, NY at the age of 13, and resided in Northford for 25 years before moving to Meriden in 2003.

He was a sales representative for Entenmann's Bakery in Orange for 19 years, retiring in 1999, and was a proud U.S. Army Vietnam Era Veteran.

In addition to his wife Mary Lou, James is survived by five sons, James H. (Sharon) Knoob of Meriden, Mark E. Knoob of Pasadena, CA, Christopher (Kristine) Knoob of Rock Hill, SC, Thomas J. (May Ann) Knoob of Northford and Robert B. (Judy) Knoob of Tolland, one sister, Florence Talmadge of New Fairfield, nine grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Andrew, Kyleigh, Kaytlin.

Danielle, Tyler, Brice and Bella, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brother George Knoob.

A graveside service with military honors will take place on Thursday, March 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at the Connecticut State Veterans' Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.

The Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven has been entrusted with arrangements.
