Obituary: Judith A. "Judy" White

Porto Funeral Home

Judith A. “Judy” White, 81, of North Branford passed away on June 20, 2025 surrounded by her family at CT Hospice. Loving mother of Leslie S. (Kimberly) White of North Haven and Kelly (Alfred) Casagrande of Guilford. Judy is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sister of Joseph (Geri) Mathis of Branford and the late Christine Proto, Tracy Staroba, Michelle Mathis and John Mathis. Judy was born in New Haven on October 3, 1943 daughter of the late Joseph and Shirley Remillard Mathis. Judy was the epitome of a devoted mother and grandmother. She poured her love into her two children, and later, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, becoming the heart and soul of the family. As a hands-on grandmother, she was always ready for anything—whether it was babysitting, giving rides to school, or simply dropping by for an impromptu visit. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, creating countless memories that her family will forever hold close. Family dinners were one of Judy’s greatest joys, and she had a special fondness for sweets. Always the last to finish a meal, she savored every bite, enjoying it to the fullest. An artist at heart, Judy expressed her creativity through painting and drawing. She poured her soul into every project, often gifting her creations to family and friends, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love. Prior to her retirement, Judy was a secretary at Yale New Haven Hospital and a waitress at the Old Heidelberg and App’s Restaurant of West Haven.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on THURSDAY, June 26, 2025, at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. THERE WILL BE NO CALLING HOURS. Arrangements are in care of the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice at www.hospice.com.
