Sign, Sign, Everywhere A Sign: Every Week, Public Works Remove Some 30 'Orphaned' Signs

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — In an election season, political signs are omnipresent. But it's all those other signs that, for now, have the Department of Public Works trying to educate the community.

In a post to Facebook, public works noted that, "Orphaned signs in North Branford are a growing concern."

Referencing a photo of a pile of signs, the department said the assembly "has appeared over the past week."

"Neglected signs become eyesores, create litter, obstruct drains, and constitute a nuisance," it was noted by public works, adding that "such signs are prohibited on town property, municipal and state rights-of-way, and utility poles."

Saying it removes an average of 30 signs a week, "the cumulative impact on our community is substantial; imagine the consequences for our streets."
