Babysitter Accused Of 'Lewd Behavior' With Kids Under Her Care: PD

North Haven police said a Wallingford woman has been charged after an investigation, which included DCF.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A babysitter/nanny has been charged after a parent contacted police concerning "lewd behavior they suspected to have occurred between" the babysitter and the children under her care, police said on Tuesday.

In a post on Facebook, police said that in late August the department "received a complaint from a concerned parent, about lewd behavior they suspected to have occurred between a babysitter/nanny, and the children under their care, during the month of July 2024."

Local detectives began an investigation and they also worked with the state Department of Children and Families.

"After conducting interviews with involved adults, as well as forensic interviews of minors, detectives believed there was probable cause for the arrest of Helen Leah Ferriolo. An arrest warrant was submitted, and approved by (the) court," police said in a statement.

On Sept. 20, detectives arrested Ferriolo, 40, of Wallingford, police said.

Ferriolo was charged with four counts of risk of injury to a child, three counts of second-degree unlawful restraint, and fourth-degree sexual assault.
