From the Bench: North Haven Girls Basketball Get 1st Win of 2021

The NHGBB team makes history as the 1st girls basketball team to win as the Nighthawks.

The 1st game of the North Haven Girls Basketball Nighthawks era was a 69-29 victory over the Amistad Wolves. The team which is absent of senior players played a complete game and got a lot of help from a younger bench. They were led by Captains Talia Annunziato and Livi Johnson, both juniors. Another Junior, Julia Ball played “lights out” scoring 23 points, two of those from the 3pt line. Sophomore Ava Johnson was the team second scoring leader with 10 points and Damaria Williams-Davis had 8 points and led the team with her full court hustle in the second half.

The Nighthawks dominated from the start and continued to keep the pressure on the Wolves throughout the entire game. They managed to control the underneath and use their team speed to move the ball down the court. Their domination allowed younger players to see varsity action.

From the Bench would like to say congratulations to the girls on a great win. You are now a part of North Haven history. The first girls basketball team to win with the new mascot. Go Nighthawks!
