North Haven DUI Driver Strikes Branford Police Officer: PD

A Branford police officer was injured Wednesday evening when his cruiser was struck by a man police said was driving under the influence.

BRANFORD, CT - A Branford police officer was injured Wednesday evening when his cruiser was struck by a North Haven driver who police ssaid was operating under the influence.

Branford police said on Facebook that:

"Officer O’Connor was patrolling on Shore Drive when a vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck Officer O’Connor’s police cruiser. The operator of the vehicle, 30 year old Joseph O’Keefe of North Haven, was subsequently arrested for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence and Failure to Drive Right. O’Keefe was released after posting bond and is to appear in court on 6/26/19. Officer O’Connor was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

"Branford Police is reminding everyone of the dangers of drunk driving.
