New Girls Basketball Coach Named At North Haven High School
A former Sacred Heart Academy standout has been appointed to lead the North Haven High School girls basketball program, officials announced.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — Jessica (Hanchette) Neuweiler has been named the new head coach of the North Haven High School girls basketball program, Athletic Director Steve Blumenthal announced Tuesday.
Neuweiler has coached high school basketball for more than 10 years and most recently was the head girls basketball coach at Plainville High School. During her time at Plainville, she led the program from a record of 3-17 when she first arrived to a top 10 ranking in the Central Connecticut Conference in 2021, according to Blumenthal.
Prior to Plainville, Neuweiler was the junior varsity coach at Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden, where she consistently led the team to winning seasons. She was responsible for player development, and led the strength and conditioning program, according to Blumenthal.

“Coach Neuweiler has demonstrated she is able to develop basketball teams and bring them to the next level,” Blumenthal said. “We look forward to Coach Neuweiler working with our student-athletes to help them reach their potential, both on and off the court.”
Neuweiler played Division II College Basketball for Saint Michael’s College in the NE-10 Conference. She played AAU for seven years for top Connecticut programs.

Neuweiler was a three-time varsity captain for Sacred Heart Academy, where she was named a Southern Connecticut Conference All-Quinnipiac Player and a Connecticut Tap-Off Club All-County Player.
