North Haven Celebrates Completion Of Housing Renovation Project

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will celebrate the completion of the Temple Pines Housing Renovation Project in North Haven.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The town and North Haven Housing Authority is celebrating the completion of the Temple Pines Housing Renovation Project, First Selectman Michael J. Freda along with Executive Director Chris Pisani announced Tuesday in conjunction with the Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) and Connecticut Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA).

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at the Temple Pines Housing Facility located at 555 Pool Road in North Haven.

“The Temple Pines Housing Facility Renovation project is an exceptional example of interested parties coming together and working toward the common goal of improving North Haven Housing Authority facilities,” Freda said in a news release. “Members of the State of Connecticut DOH, CHFA, the North Haven Housing Authority, the Departments of Public Works and Finance, and our State’s Legislators, have all worked in a collaborative fashion to see this important housing improvement project completed.”

The project’s design was completed by Schadler Selnau Associates, PC. of Farmington, while its construction was completed by The PAC Group, LLC. of Torrington. The project was administered by A & E Services Group of Cheshire, and J. D Amelia & Associates, LLC. of Waterbury.

The Temple Pines Housing Renovation project is comprised of 30 renovated apartments (including three fully ADA compliant units), three renovated common areas, a newly refurbished elevator, new apartment appliances, new apartment flooring, bathroom renovations with step-in showers and modern fixtures, new apartment lighting, new diesel powered emergency generator capable of powering the entire complex, new hallway and common area lighting and flooring, new exterior siding, windows and lighting, new heat pumps (for heating and cooling), newly milled, paved and striped parking areas, newly constructed sanitation collection and disposal area, new security and intercom systems, and new landscaping areas surrounding the building.

Construction concluded in late October and was considered substantially complete this month.

The project was funded through Connecticut Department of Housing’s Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) ($3,200,000) and the Connecticut Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) Grant ($2,500,000).

“The completion of this critical, on time and on budget Housing Authority project provides for a safe, State-of-the-art housing facility for North Haven Housing Authority residents for years to come” Pisani said.
