North Haven Commission Rejects Package Store Proposal

Earlier this month, a proposal to put a package store on Quinnipiac Ave in town was rejected by the North Haven Planning and Zoning Commission, citing traffic concerns.

The North Haven Citizen reports that Clintonville Package Store owners Nick and Regina Saldanna wanted to move their store to 280 Quinnipiac Ave and 63 Montowese Ave. However, the move was criticized by residents at a public hearing, as they said the package store would have brought more traffic to a congested area and would be "detrimental to the public’s interest."

The Planning and Zoning Commission agreed, as they unanimously rejected the proposal. The package store would have been 9,770 square feet and have had 45 parking spots, according to The North Haven Citizen.

“This is a heavily-traveled area and could be dangerous,” Commission member Edward Homa said at the meeting, according to the newspaper.
