Why are you seeking this office?
I am seeking re-election to the Board of Fire Commissioners after serving for over three years as a Commissioner. During my time on the Commission, I’ve gained a deep understanding of the department’s evolving needs, most notably, the urgent need for additional firefighters. This demand is driven by the town’s ongoing economic development, including the new apartment buildings already built and plans for a town center that will feature residential units and various businesses.

My motivation to continue serving stems from both professional experience and personal connection. I have family members who work in public safety, and through many conversations with fire service personnel, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of safe turnout gear, reliable apparatus, and robust wellness programs. I’m committed to ensuring our firefighters have the resources they need to protect our community effectively and safely.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
They don't realize the fire department needs more firefighters. Additionally, they haven't heard the future development plans for North Haven. The new development continues to drive the need for more firefighters. As a result of the reduced number of volunteers, there are two fire stations not in service during the day from Monday to Friday.

I will continue to organize community meetings to update the residents on the recruitment of career and volunteer firefighters and the status of emergency services.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
What distinguishes me from other candidates is my experience: I’ve proudly served three terms on the North Haven Board of Finance, gaining a deep understanding of our town’s municipal budgeting process. I voted as a member of the bipartisan Board to help launch the Fire Department’s Paramedics Program. The funding was provided by a federal grant and the town.

My commitment to public safety is personal. With family members in emergency services and ongoing conversations with North Haven’s fire personnel, I’ve developed a strong appreciation for the critical importance of safe turnout gear, dependable apparatus, and robust wellness programs. These insights fuel my motivation to continue serving. I’m dedicated to ensuring our firefighters have the resources they need to protect themselves and our community.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Listening to residents is always a top priority. I believe that effective leadership begins with understanding the concerns of our community. With a background in research, I plan to explore how emerging technologies can enhance public safety, improve municipal services, and increase government transparency.

I also intend to continue organizing workshops and community meetings with the fire service to promote fire safety awareness. These gatherings foster collaboration among first responders, elected officials and residents, helping ensure that everyone is informed.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Over the past three years as a Fire Commissioner, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the fire department’s operational needs and the broader workings of municipal government. My experience in budgeting and finance has equipped me to make informed decisions that balance fiscal responsibility with public safety.

I’ve worked directly with the Fire Chief to help update the department’s website, improving transparency and access to vital information. I’ve also organized meetings with senior citizens, the Democratic Town Committee, and local business groups to better understand their perspectives and ensure that emergency services align with community needs.

Above all, I listen. I believe that effective leadership starts with hearing the concerns of residents and translating those insights into action. My track record reflects a commitment to collaboration and results.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
First, Listen!

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
Absolutely. Above all, I want voters to know that my commitment is to the people of North Haven. I’m here to serve—not just in title. My approach is grounded in listening to residents, learning from their experiences, and leading with integrity.

I believe in practical, people-first solutions that strengthen our community and reflect its values. I’m running to make a meaningful difference—by supporting public safety, promoting transparency, and ensuring that residents’ voices are heard in the decisions that shape our town.
