2 People Displaced By Basement Fire In Norwalk: FD

Two people were displaced by a fire that broke out in the basement of a Norwalk home, according to fire officials.

NORWALK, CT — Two people were displaced by a fire that broke out early Tuesday morning in the basement of a Norwalk home, according to the Norwalk Fire Department.

In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Adam Markowitz said the structure fire was reported just before 4 a.m. in the basement of a two-story wood frame home on East Avenue.

When crews arrived at the home, they found smoke inside the building and fire in the basement, Markowitz said.

The occupants of the home were found in the front yard and told fire officials everyone was out of the building, according to Markowitz.

Crews quickly extinguished the flames in the back corner of the basement and fire damage was contained to the basement with smoke damage throughout, Markowitz said.

No injuries were reported. Two people were displaced by the fire, according to Markowitz.

The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire, Markowitz said.
