2022 Community Backpack Drives Receives Donation From BJ Ryan's

Word Alive Church and the Norwalk Police Department, hosts of the 2022 Community Backpack Drive are pleased to announce that local business owner, BJ Ryan, owner of BJ Ryan Restaurant Group has recently made a substantial contribution to the drive.

“We are humbled by the outpouring of support from local business owners such as BJ Ryan,” Reverend Artie Kassimis said. “With this donation, we have surpassed our goal of providing 1,000 backpacks and are looking forward to distributing these to the deserving students of Norwalk.”

Other major sponsors of the drive include: M.F. DiScala & Company, SoNo Cares, King Industries, Dooney & Bourke, Durango Insurance, Berchem Moses PC, and Dave & Charlie’s Hometown Deli. Members of the Norwalk community, through the active “I Love Norwalk” and “Norwalk CT Community” Facebook groups have also contributed to the drive.

Backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 10:00 AM in the Community Room at the Norwalk Police Department. Mayor Harry Rilling will kick off the event.
