8 Families Displaced By Apartment Fire In Norwalk: Authorities
Nearly 20 people were displaced, authorities said.

NORWALK, CT — Eight families — nearly 20 people — were displaced overnight in a Norwalk apartment building fire, according to authorities.
Emergency personnel responded shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday to the building on Elmcrest Terrace and found heavy fire engulfing the first and second floors at the front of the structure, authorities said.
Firefighters used ladders and windows to access and search the structure, and they were able to contain the blaze to the front of the first two floors, according to the Norwalk Fire Department, which reported the building was severely damaged by fire, smoke and heat.

Over 30 firefighters responded to the blaze, the cause of which was under investigation Sunday, authorities said.
