NORWALK, CT — Two firearms, suspected narcotics and other items were seized during a search of a Norwalk apartment Monday, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Tomasz Podgorski said members of the department's Special Services Division launched a narcotics investigation focused on the Wilson Avenue area in January after receiving numerous complaints from community members about narcotics sales in the area.

After further investigation, officers obtained four search warrants and five arrest warrants for Melvin Colon, 34, a resident of an apartment complex on Wilson Avenue, Podgorski said.

Colon was charged in an arrest warrant with five counts of possession of narcotics and five counts of sale of narcotics.

He was also charged at the scene and in a search warrant with altering serial number on a firearm, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of illegal possession of a large capacity magazine, two counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon, two counts of negligent storage of a firearm, use of drug paraphernalia and operation of a drug factory.
