NORWALK, CT — Crews extinguished a fire at a multi-family home in Norwalk despite extreme heat and humidity conditions late Tuesday morning, according to fire officials.

In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Reardon said the fire was reported around 11:30 a.m. on the second floor and in the attic of a multi-family home on Godfrey Street.

When crews arrived, they found flames showing from a top floor window of the 2.5-story building, Reardon said.

Reardon also noted extreme heat and humidity conditions Tuesday challenged firefighters' efforts, and Norwalk Hospital EMS provided rehab services at the scene.

One firefighter was taken to Norwalk Hospital due to heat-related illness and is currently in stable condition, Reardon said. No other injuries were reported.

The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire, according to Reardon.
