CT Man 'Wanted On Numerous Warrants' Extradited From Florida: Norwalk Police

NORWALK, CT — A Fairfield man incarcerated in Florida and "wanted on numerous warrants" was extradited back to Norwalk on Sunday, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Tomasz Podgorski said the department was contacted by the Desoto Correctional Institution in Florida in November 2023 about an inmate in their custody with outstanding warrants out of Norwalk.

According to Podgorski, officers learned Jacob Getman, 36, of Fairfield, was incarcerated for domestic-related charges in Florida and scheduled for release in June 2025.

During their investigation, officers found Getman "was wanted on numerous warrants stemming from Norwalk and other local jurisdictions" and worked to extradite him back to Connecticut, Podgorski said.

According to Podgorski, several of the warrants were the result of domestic violence investigations involving Getman.

On Sunday, members of the Norwalk Police Department Special Services Division traveled to Florida and extradited Getman back to Connecticut, Podgorski said.

He was charged on multiple warrants with first-degree failure to appear, second-degree failure to appear, violation of a protective order and violation of probation.

The total bond for all the warrants amounted to $280,000, according to Podgorski.

Getman was unable to post bond and is scheduled to appear in court Monday, Podgorski said.
