Edith Grace Keyes, age 93 of Port Washington NY and New London, New Hampshire passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday May 29, 2013, Edith was predeceased by her loving husband , George A. Keyes, one day short of her 70th wedding anniversary.
She is the mother of Katherine F. Rorick of Norwalk, Ct. and South Kingston, RI and Robert H. Keyes, Esq., of Ridgefield, Ct. She was born in New York, N.Y and spent her formative years in Little Neck, N.Y., working for Elizabeth Arden in New York City. She was married during WWII and lived in many parts of the U.S. during the war years. During the majority of her married life, she raised her family in Port Washington, NY, while being employed in the public school district. During her retirement, she lived in Boynton Beach, Fl. and New London, NH.
Edith was predeceased by her grandson, Brian Rorick. She is survived by 5 grandchildren, Michael, Timothy and Mathew Rorick and Alexander and Eleanor Keyes, and 2 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Dylan Rorick. Friends may greet the family on Friday May 31, 2013 from 9 to 10am at St. Philip RC Church, 25 France St., Norwalk, Ct., with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, 225 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, Ct., The Magner Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
