Fire Breaks Out At Main Street Business In Norwalk: FD

Fire officials said an early morning structure fire broke out at a two-story commercial building on Main Street in Norwalk.

NORWALK, CT — Crew extinguished a structure fire that broke out early Monday morning at a two-story commercial building in Norwalk, according to fire officials.

In a news release provided by the department, Assistant Fire Chief Edward McCabe said firefighters were called to a building on Main Street just before 5 a.m. for an activated alarm.

When crews arrived, they found smoke on the second floor of the building and requested a full structure fire response, McCabe said.

Firefighters stretched an attack line to the second floor as the sprinkler system knocked down the bulk of the fire, according to McCabe.

After the fire was extinguished, the building was ventilated and the sprinkler system was shut down, McCabe said.

No injuries were reported, however the building's second floor sustained water damage, according to McCabe.

The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire, McCabe said.
