Former Norwalk Official Convicted Of Murder Sentenced To 50 Years In Prison: Reports
A former city official who was convicted of murder for the 2022 death of her tenant has been sentenced to prison, according to reports.
NORWALK, CT — Ellen Wink, a former Norwalk official who was convicted of murder earlier this year for the 2022 death of her tenant, was sentenced to 50 years in prison Friday, News 12 Connecticut reports.
According to News 12, Wink's attorney said they planned to appeal the verdict. A request for a post-conviction bond by Wink's attorney was also denied. (Read the full News 12 Connecticut story here.)
Friday's sentence comes nearly two years after Wink previously rejected an offer from the state to plead guilty to murder in return for a 40-year sentence, according to The Norwalk Hour.

In June, a jury convicted Wink of murder for the death of her tenant Kurt Lametta, 54, a lifelong Norwalk resident who was shot to death on Jan. 20, 2022, according to Norwalk police.
Wink and Lametta had a contentious tenant and landlord relationship dating back to 2020 prior to the shooting in 2022, The Hour reports. Wink had been arrested and charged with criminal lockout a few months before the shooting, and prosecutors were able to combine both cases into one trial. (Read the full Norwalk Hour story here.)

At the time of the incident, Police Lt. Terrence Blake said officers arrested Wink, a Nelson Avenue resident, following an incident in which a man, later identified as Lametta, was found inside a a separate home on Nelson Avenue "suffering from gunshot wounds."
Lametta was declared dead after being evaluated by Norwalk Hospital Emergency Medical Service crews, Blake said.

Wink previously served as Norwalk's Republican deputy registrar. She was fired the day after her arrest in connection with the shooting in January 2022, according to a Norwalk Republican Town Committee official.
In addition to her deputy registrar role, Wink previously served as city clerk from 2009 to 2011.
