Hedwig "Hedgie" Shostak, 96, Wife of Past Norwalk Mayor

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 10:00am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave, Norwalk.

Hedwig "Hedgie" M. Shostak, 96 of Norwalk, died on Thursday, Oct 31, 2013 at Norwalk Hospital.

Born in Ansonia, the daughter of Kostanty and Teofila Marcel, she was the wife of the late John Shostak, former Mayor of Norwalk. A Registered Nurse for many years at Norwalk Hospital, Hedgie was active with the St. Thomas parish community where served as parish nurse and was a volunteer at the Notre Dame Convalescent Home.

A loving and devoted mother, she greatly enjoyed her many friends at St. Thomas Church and Maplewood-Strawberry Hill, where she lived for the last four months.

Hedgie is survived by 2 sons and a daughter: John M. Shostak of Fairfield, Connie Kane of Lakewood, OH, and Thomas Shostak of Lancaster, OH, 5 grandchildren: Justine C. Graeff, John D. Shostak, Laura Shostak-Pomponio, Stephen M. Shostak and Jennifer K. Arnold, 6 cherished great-grandchildren, a sister Mary Lepovsky, a brother-in-law Roy Worman, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 10:00am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave, Norwalk.

Burial to be held privately. Her family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 4 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk.
