Launching in September, this innovative offering combines music, rhythm, and play to introduce young learners to important historical themes in a fun and joyful format.
Led by acclaimed vocalist and educator Christi John Bye, this weekly program will run every Thursday from 11–11:45 am, beginning on September 4, 2025, at the Museum. Each session promises to be a delightful exploration of music and history.
With its commitment to preserving and sharing the town’s history, the Museum of Darien provides a perfect backdrop for this innovative blend of education and performance. “History Tunes & Tiny Tales” aligns beautifully with the museum’s mission to engage all ages in the exploration of our shared past—starting with the youngest visitors.
Program Highlights:
· Interactive Music & Movement: Children will sing, clap, dance, and play along with live music, exploring rhythms and melodies that bring moments from American and world history to life.
· Thematic Sessions: Each week will highlight a different historical theme or cultural tradition—from colonial celebrations and immigrant songs to folk tales, patriotic tunes, and early jazz sounds—through simple stories and song.
· Developmentally Appropriate Engagement: Designed to support early childhood learning, each session promotes motor skills, language development, listening, and social interaction.
· Live Performance by a Professional Musician: All sessions will be led by Christi John Bye, a seasoned vocalist and educator with a dynamic career in multiple musical genres and a passion for early learning.
