Juvenile Robbed At Knifepoint In Norwalk After Setting Up Meeting Via Snapchat: Police

The incident happened last month in Veterans' Park, according to authorities.

NORWALK, CT — A 34-year-old man was arrested on robbery and related charges this week in Norwalk in connection with a knifepoint robbery that had been set up through the app Snapchat, according to police.

Mario Osorio-Lopez, of no known address, was arrested on a warrant this week, charging him with:

  • Second-degree robbery
  • Third-degree larceny
  • Risk of injury to a minor (2 counts)
  • Conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery

The incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on July 12 in Veterans' Park in East Norwalk.

"A juvenile victim stated he had arranged a meeting through the mobile application Snapchat to sell several high-value items," said Norwalk Police Sgt. Ryan Evarts in a statement. "Upon arriving at the park, he was approached by three males. One of the individuals displayed a knife and forcibly took the items. All three suspects then fled the area."

Police determined Osorio-Lopez was a suspect, and arrested him on Wednesday.

"More arrests are expected, and the investigation is ongoing," Evarts said.

Orsorio-Lopez was held in lieu of bail of $200,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 13.
