Lester H. Singewald, 84, Owner of Singewalk Buick

Lester H. Singewald, age 84, of Norwalk and Hypoluxo, FL, died peacefully at his home in Florida. He was the husband of the late Mary Matteis Singewald. Lester was born in Norwalk on November 20, 1927.

He was the son of the late Lester Martin and Florence Deering Singewald. He was a graduate of Norwalk High School and attended Bryant College. Lester was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of Singewald Buick in Norwalk for over 35 years. He served as past president for both the Connecticut and Tri-State Buick Dealers Associations.

He enjoyed golfing and was a long time member of Shorehaven Golf Club and The Boca Raton Club. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Lester was a sports enthusiast and loved watching and cheering on his favorite teams. Later in life, he enjoyed the companionship of his 4 dogs.  

Survivors include three daughters and their spouses, Leslie and Michael Modee, Mary Ann and Robert Genuario, of Norwalk and Robin and Al Leonard of Hypoluxo, FL. He is also survived by his sister, Lorraine Halasz of Westport, 12 grandchildren; Michael and Matthew Modee, Joseph, Lester, Dominick, Josephine and Robin Ann Veno, Robert, Jr., Eric, Adam and Andrew Genuario, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and  his longtime friend Yara Weber. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Maria Veno.     

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 30, 10 a.m. at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Rd., Norwalk, with entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.  Lester’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Sunday from 3-6 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to STAR, Inc., 182 Wolfpit Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851.  For directions or to sign an online guest book, please go to
