Man Accused of Hit and Run on Sheridan Street

Written by Harold Cobin

A city man was arrested Monday night after allegedly crashing his car into a parked vehicle on Sheridan Street and then walking away with his dog.

An alleged witness called police to report seeing a Honda causing the crash, followed by the driver walking away toward Woodward Avenue with a small, unleashed dog.

Police say they found a pocketbook in the car's trunk belonging to its owner. She was contacted and reportedly said she drove her car to work, but her husband, later identified as Ryan Mobley, sometimes came to her work site and took the car for his own use. Officers patrolled the area and, based on the witness' description, located Mobley with his dog.

An officer reported Mobley said his name was Chris and said he was not carrying any identification. He also allegedly said he couldn't have been driving the Honda because he has a suspended license.

The officer reported that after patting down Mobley, he was found to be carrying a wallet with an identification card showing him to be Ryan Mobley.

Mobley, 30, of 300 Ely Ave., was charged with criminal impersonation, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and evading responsibility.

Mobley was held on $5,000 bond and given a court date of June 18.
